Elo Safety & Reporting Policy

Elo is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all users. This Safety & Reporting Policy outlines how users can report concerns and how Elo handles violations to ensure a trustworthy and respectful community.

1. REPORTING INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR

1.1 Users are encouraged to report any activity that violates Elo’s Community Guidelines, Terms & Conditions, or Safety Policies. 1.2 You can report a user, message, or content directly within the app using the report feature. 1.3 Reports are confidential, and your identity will not be disclosed to the reported user.

2. TYPES OF REPORTABLE OFFENSES

2.1 Harassment & Bullying: Repeated unwelcome messages, stalking, or intimidation. 2.2 Hate Speech & Discrimination: Racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise discriminatory language. 2.3 Fraud & Scams: Requests for money, deceptive behavior, or financial scams. 2.4 Inappropriate Content: Sharing explicit, violent, illegal, or offensive material. 2.5 Impersonation & Fake Profiles: Creating fake accounts or pretending to be someone else. 2.6 Threats & Violence: Direct or implied threats, encouraging harm, or promoting violence. 2.7 Illegal Activities: Any activity that violates Kenyan laws or international digital safety standards.

3. HOW TO REPORT A USER OR INCIDENT

3.1 In-App Reporting: Tap the three-dot menu on a user’s profile or chat and select “Report User.” Choose the reason and provide details. 3.2 Email Support: If unable to report in-app, contact our support team at [support@elo.plus] with relevant details. 3.3 Law Enforcement Reporting: In cases involving serious threats, fraud, or criminal activity, users should also report to local authorities.

4. ELO’S RESPONSE TO REPORTS

4.1 Reports are reviewed by Elo’s moderation team within 24-72 hours. 4.2 Depending on the severity, actions taken may include:

  • Warning the reported user.
  • Temporary suspension of the account.
  • Permanent banning from the platform.
  • Referral to law enforcement for legal violations. 4.3 Users who repeatedly file false reports may face penalties, including suspension.

5. BLOCKING & USER CONTROL

5.1 Users have the option to block other users at any time. 5.2 A blocked user will no longer be able to view your profile, send messages, or interact with you. 5.3 To block a user, go to their profile, tap “Block,” and confirm the action.

6. COOPERATION WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT

6.1 Elo will cooperate with law enforcement agencies in cases involving criminal activities, threats, or fraudulent behavior. 6.2 Users may be required to provide additional information if necessary for legal investigations. 6.3 Elo follows the Data Protection Act of Kenya (2019) and international data privacy regulations in handling user information.

7. PREVENTIVE MEASURES & USER EDUCATION

7.1 Elo regularly updates its safety policies and educates users on best practices for online safety. 7.2 Security enhancements, such as AI monitoring, content moderation, and identity verification, are continuously improved. 7.3 Users are encouraged to review safety tips and community guidelines to foster a secure online experience.

8. POLICY UPDATES & CHANGES

8.1 Elo reserves the right to update this policy as needed to enhance user safety. 8.2 Users will be notified of significant changes via in-app notifications or email. 8.3 Continued use of Elo after updates signifies acceptance of the revised policy.
