Elo Safety & Policy Document

At Elo, we take the safety and well-being of our users seriously. This Safety & Policy document outlines our commitment to ensuring a secure platform, user responsibilities, and our enforcement mechanisms. By using Elo, you agree to follow these safety policies and guidelines.

1. ELO'S COMMITMENT TO SAFETY

1.1 We are dedicated to providing a secure, respectful, and user-friendly platform. 1.2 Elo continuously monitors, updates, and improves security measures to protect users from harm. 1.3 We comply with the Data Protection Act of Kenya (2019) and international data protection standards, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. USER RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 Users must adhere to Elo’s Community Guidelines and Terms & Conditions. 2.2 Respect and protect the privacy, safety, and security of other users. 2.3 Do not engage in any behavior that could cause harm, distress, or danger to others. 2.4 Report any suspicious, inappropriate, or illegal activities through Elo’s reporting tools.

3. ACCOUNT & DATA SECURITY

3.1 Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials. 3.2 Elo implements encryption, fraud detection, and other security measures to protect user data. 3.3 Users have the right to request data deletion or account removal in compliance with privacy regulations. 3.4 In cases of unauthorized access, users must notify Elo support immediately.

4. SAFETY MEASURES & PROTECTIONS

4.1 Profile Verification: Elo encourages users to verify their profiles to enhance trust. 4.2 Blocking & Reporting: Users can block and report any suspicious, abusive, or harmful behavior. 4.3 AI & Moderation: Elo uses AI-driven monitoring and human moderation to detect violations and enforce safety policies. 4.4 Incident Investigation: Reports of misconduct are reviewed promptly, and necessary actions, including warnings, suspensions, or bans, will be enforced. 4.5 Location Privacy: Users can control their visibility settings (Precise, Nearby, Hidden) to determine how they appear to others.

5. PROHIBITED BEHAVIOR

5.1 Hate speech, harassment, discrimination, and threats are strictly prohibited. 5.2 Sharing explicit, violent, or illegal content is not allowed. 5.3 Spamming, scamming, or fraudulent activities are violations of Elo’s policies. 5.4 Any attempt to circumvent security measures, including hacking or using unauthorized third-party applications, will result in immediate account suspension.

6. OFFLINE SAFETY & MEETUPS

6.1 Users should take precautions when meeting in person:

  • Meet in public places.
  • Inform a friend or family member about the meeting.
  • Arrange independent transportation. 6.2 Elo is not responsible for incidents that occur outside the platform but will cooperate with law enforcement if required.

7. REPORTING & ENFORCEMENT

7.1 How to Report: Users can report issues directly in the app or via customer support. 7.2 Review Process: All reports are reviewed confidentially, and necessary actions are taken. 7.3 Law Enforcement Cooperation: If required, Elo will cooperate with authorities in cases of criminal activity.

8. COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL & INTERNATIONAL LAWS

8.1 Users must follow the laws of Kenya, including but not limited to:

  • The Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.
  • The Data Protection Act (2019).
  • Any applicable digital safety regulations. 8.2 Users engaging in illegal activities on Elo will face immediate termination of their account and potential legal action.

9. POLICY UPDATES

9.1 Elo reserves the right to update this Safety & Policy document as necessary. 9.2 Users will be notified of significant updates via in-app notifications or email. 9.3 Continued use of Elo after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policies.
